Casualties reported after magnitude 6.2 earthquake hits Indonesia's Sumatra Island
At least 2 people were killed and 20 others injured when a 6.2 magnitude earthquake hit Indonesia's Sumatra Island early on Friday.
“The strong shaking of the earthquake was felt by people in several areas of West Sumatra on Friday morning. The parameter of the earthquake that occurred had a magnitude (M) of 6.2 and took place at 08.39 WIB,” the country’s National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) said.
The earthquake quake struck Sumatra island's north at a depth of 12km, about 70km from the town of Bukittinggi in West Sumatra province, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS). (ILKHA)
