At least 7 people killed after explosion and fire in south west France
At least seven people, including two children, have been killed after an explosion in southwestern France.
The incident took place around 1:30 am on Monday in the main street of Saint-Laurent-de-la-Salanque.
The newborn baby was one of two children killed during the incident, according to local media sources.
“This is a real drama that took place in Saint-Laurent-de-la-Salanque, in the Pyrénées-Orientales. The provisional death toll is 7, including 2 children. On behalf of the Nation, I extend my full support and solidarity to the families and loved ones of the victims,” French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin said on Twitter.
Seriously injured, a 27-year-old man is currently in intensive care in Montpellier. (ILKHA)
