Libya PM Dbeibah survives assassination attempt in Tripoli
Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah has escaped unharmed from an assassination attempt in the capital Tripoli early on Thursday
Unidentified assailants shot at Dbeibah's car in the capital Tripoli before escaping from the site, local sources reported.
Shots fired from another vehicle hit Dbeibah's car while he was returning home.
The assailants managed to escape the scene, Al Arabiya broadcaster reported early on Thursday.
The prosecutor general has launched an investigation into the incident, officials said.
Abdul Hamid al-Dbeibeh was elected as the prime minister of Libya's interim Government of National Unity in February 2021.
He was expected to hold the office of leader until elections for December 2021, which was later postponed. (ILKHA)
