In his weekly statement on the recent developments in the world, Demir touched upon the flagrant abuse of human rights in Egypt, zionist regime’s apartheid policies against Palestinians as well as Greece’s pushbacks and violence against refugees.

Recalling that the junta court sentenced 10 more members of the Muslim Brotherhood Movement to death in Egypt, Yapıcıoğlu pointed out that the putschist Sisi administration, which has murdered and imprisoned hundreds of people since the 2013 military coup, continues its "revenge" operations in the country.

Yapıcıoğlu underlined that these sentences, which were given based on completely false evidence, destroy fundamental human rights, and added: “The people of Egypt must raise their voices and stand up for their ignored will, against the junta who overthrew the country's first elected civilian government at gunpoint and executed hundreds of people on baseless accusations.”

“Not only the Islamic world, but the whole world should oppose the death penalties given in Egypt, and this massacre, which disregards justice, should be stopped. The murders committed before were kept silent, and this silence encouraged the junta. The entire Islamic world, especially Turkey, must stop the persecution in Egypt, and the junta regime must be subjected to heavy sanctions.”

“The zionist occupation regime is committing crimes against humanity”

Reminding that in the report published by Amnesty International, the practices of the Zionist regime against the Palestinians in the occupied areas are defined as "Apartheid", Yapıcıoğlu said: “According to international law, apartheid is defined as 'an inhuman act committed by one racial group with the aim of establishing and maintaining dominance over and systematically oppressing any other racial group'.”

Yapıcıoğlu continued his remarks as follows: “ The word of 'Apartheid', which is considered a crime against humanity, summarizes the Palestinian policy of the Zionist occupation regime. Along with the occupation, the Zionist regime, which increases the size of its massacre day by day, is supported by the international system, even though it clearly violates international law. Western powers, which flag the so-called human rights advocacy against Islamic countries, continue to stand by the occupation regime, which commits crimes against humanity. Unfortunately, the Islamic world has not been able to stand by the Palestinian people, who have been subjected to genocide and occupation for years, on the contrary, it has entered a normalization race with the occupation regime.”

“The Zionist regime, which commits crimes against humanity, should not be legitimized, the Islamic world should abandon its relations with the Zionist regime, which usurps the rights of the Palestinian people, for the sake of political interest. The Zionist regime must be paid for the occupation and the massacres it has committed, and the usurped rights and lands of the Palestinian people must be returned.”

“Greece commits crimes against humanity”

Yapıcıoğlu slammed Greece for the deaths of 19 refugees who froze to death near Turkey's border with Greece after being pushed back by Greek Border Units, stripped off from their clothes and shoes.

“This is a violation of all human and moral values, as well as the UN Convention on the Legal Status of Refugees, which guarantees the lives and all kinds of legal status of refugees. We condemn and curse this atrocity. It may be considered normal for a country to detain refugees who enter its territory without permission or to send them back to their countries under reasonable conditions.  However, it is a crime against humanity to deliberately disable inflatable boats with irregular migrants onboard in the middle of the sea, to try to sink boats and ships, to take off their shoes and clothes and leave them to die willfully in the cold and freezing weather.  It is a violation of international law,” Yapıcıoğlu said.

“The fact that these horrific incidents are taking place in Greece, which is an EU member, shows the true face of the so-called civilization in Europe.  The fact that EU countries did not react to this atrocity shows that the crime committed was the product of their common will. All international institutions and organizations, in particular, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), should take action so that the Greek government, which killed humanity, is tried in international courts for this crime and given the punishment it deserves,” Yapıcıoğlu concluded.
