Palestinian prisoners in dire need of winter blankets and clothing
The Palestinian Commission of Detainees’ and Ex-Detainees’ Affairs said the Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jail suffer from an acute shortage of winter blankets and clothing and the absence of heating appliances that could protect them from cold.
In a statement on Thursday, the Commission said that the incarceration conditions of the prisoners in israeli jails became more difficult and complicated, especially in light of the extreme cold weather.
The Commission pointed to the presence of several restrictions and complications imposed by the israeli prison service and other security apparatuses on the entry of clothing and blankets into the jails, accusing them of seeking to undermine the prisoners’ will and steadfastness.
The Commission appealed to the UN and its humanitarian institutions and committees to assume their responsibilities in this regard towards more than 4,600 Palestinian male and female prisoners in different israeli jails. (ILKHA)
