Toyota extends production line suspensions in Japan
Toyota, the Japanese multinational automotive manufacturer, announced additional suspensions of domestic plant production for completed vehicles.
Toyota will stop 19 assembly lines at its 11 plants across Japan until February 1, a step that will cause a delay in the production of a total of 94 thousand vehicles, including Corolla, Prius, and Land Cruiser models.
“With regard to February, as the parts scheduled to be used during the January suspension can now be used in February, some plants and lines originally scheduled to be suspended in the month will now operate. We will continue to make our maximum efforts to deliver as many vehicles as possible to our customers at the earliest possible date,” Toyota said in a statement.
The stoppages have been caused by parts shortages amid a surge in coronavirus infections in the country. (ILKHA)
