Police seize about 53 kg of heroin in southeastern Turkey
Police have seized 52.6 kg of heroin in Turkey’s southeastern Şırnak province, the Provincial Police Department said in a statement on Monday.
The drug was found during a truck search in the Uludere district, according to the statement.
A suspect was arrested on charges of drug trafficking, the statement said.
The suspected drug dealer will be brought before the court after the police investigation is completed.
Turkey maintains strict laws against the use, possession, or trafficking of illegal drugs. If convicted under these offenses, one could receive a heavy fine or a prison sentence of 4 to 24 years. (ILKHA)
