House sales in Turkey decreases by 0.5% in 2021—statistical agency

House sales decreased by 0.5% in 2021 compared to the previous year and became a million 491 thousand 856. İstanbul had the highest share with 18.5% and 276 thousand 223 house sales.

The followers of Istanbul were Ankara with 144 thousand 104 house sales and İzmir with 86 thousand 722 house sales with the share of 9.7% and 5.8% respectively. The provinces with the lowest number of sales were Hakkari with 267, Ardahan with 377 and Bayburt 871 house sales.

In December, house sales increased by 113.7% compared to the same month of the previous year and became 226 thousand 503. İstanbul had the highest share with 17.2% and 39 thousand 26 house sales. In 2021, first time house sales had 30.9% share of all house sales.

In Turkey, second hand house sales increased by 116.8% in December compared to the same month of the previous year and became 149 thousand 756. In January-December period, second hand house sales increased by 0.1% compared to the same period of the previous year and became a million 30 thousand 333. In 2021, second hand house sales had 69.1% share of all house sales.

In Turkey, 58 thousand 576 houses were sold to foreigners in 2021

 House sales to foreigners increased by 43.5% in 2021 compared to the previous year and became 58 thousand 576. House sales to foreigners had 3.9% share of all house sales. In house sales to foreigners, İstanbul was the first province with 26 thousand 469 sales. The followers of İstanbul were Antalya with 12 thousand 384 house sales and Ankara with 3 thousand 672 house sales to foreigners.

In December, house sales to foreigners increased by 77.1% compared to the same month of the previous year and became 7 thousand 841. İstanbul ranked first with 3 thousand 300 house sales to foreigners. The followers of İstanbul were Antalya with a thousand 827 house sales and Ankara with 489 house sales to foreigners.

House sales were mostly made to Iran citizens according to nationalities in 2021

Iran citizens bought 10 thousand 56 houses from Turkey in 2021. The followers of Iran citizens were Iraq citizens with 8 thousand 661 house sales and Russia citizens with 5 thousand 379 house sales.
