Turkey’s coronavirus board to convene amid surging Omicron variant
Coronavirus Scientific Advisory Board will convene on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Health Minister Fahrettin Koca.
The measures against the Omicron, a new fast-spreading variant of the deadly infection, will be at top of the agenda for the meeting.
The roll-out program of the domestic COVID-19 vaccine “TURKOVAC”, and the current COVID-19 situation in the country will also be evaluated at the meeting.
The meeting will be held through video conference at 17:30 o'clock.
Health Minister Fahrettin Koca will issue a written statement after the meeting.
Turkish Health Ministry reported 74,266 new cases, 137 deaths and 39,226 recoveries over the past day.
The coronavirus has so far infected nearly 10 million people and killed about 84,000 patients in Turkey. (ILKHA)
