Over 21 kg of heroin seized in eastern Turkey
Anti-narcotics teams of police have seized 21,26 kilograms of heroin in the Baykan district of Turkey’s southeastern Siirt province, the Governor's office said in a statement on Monday.
The heroin was seized during a traffic stop at a checkpoint in the Veysel Karani town, the statement said.
Police arrested four suspects, including two Iranian nationals, who are engaged in drug trafficking.
The suspects will be brought before the court after the police investigation is completed.
Turkey maintains strict laws against the use, possession, or trafficking of illegal drugs. If convicted under these offenses, one could receive a heavy fine or a prison sentence of 4 to 24 years. (ILKHA)
