Recognition of Afghanistan’s new government is international community’s need: Spokesman
Inamullah Samangani, a spokesperson of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, said that their recognition is not a need of them but a need of the international community.
“The international community will have adverse consequences if it does not recognize the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan,” Samangani warned.
“Recognition of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan is not a need of Afghanistan but of the international community as Afghanistan is a member of the community and political engagement with Afghanistan will benefit all,” Samangani said.
No country has formally recognized the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan now after nearly five months.
Taliban forces took control of Afghanistan's capital city of Kabul on August 15 during a military offensive against the Afghan government that had begun in May.
The capture took place hours after President Ashraf Ghani fled the country. Most of the provincial capitals of Afghanistan had fallen in succession in the midst of a US troop withdrawal under a February 2020 US–Taliban agreement that concluded on August 30.
On September 7, the Taliban announced an interim government in Afghanistan, declaring the country an Islamic Emirate, and appointing Mullah Mohammed Hassan Akhund as Prime Minister. (ILKHA)
