Erdoğan aims to get Turkish economy out of spiral of high interest rates
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered a speech at the 12th General Assembly of the Anatolian Lions Businessmen Association (ASKON) at Çırağan Palace in Istanbul.
Speaking at the General Assembly of ASKON, Erdoğan said: “We have been working for some time now to get the Turkish economy out of the spiral of high interest rates – high inflation and to set it on the path of growth through investment, employment, production, exportation and current account surplus. Our greatest strength in this struggle is the infrastructure we have built in our country in the past 19 years and the dynamism of our people, including our entrepreneurs and employees.”
“We have been working for some time now to get the Turkish economy out of the spiral of high interest rates – high inflation, and to set it on the path of growth through investment, employment, production, exportation and current account surplus. Our greatest strength in this struggle is the infrastructure we have built in our country in the past 19 years and the dynamism of our people, including our entrepreneurs and employees. For a long time, there has been an economic system in the world, which was established by the developed countries, which included different practices for themselves, for the developing countries and for the less developed countries, and which was based on double-standards,” Erdoğan said.
“We focus all our energy on developing our employment-oriented economy”
“In addition to the unjust and unfair stances in the face of the humanitarian tragedies happening at various places, this skewed and unbalanced system was shaken to the core with the global financial crisis of 2008 and the coronavirus pandemic crisis of 2020. We as Turkey have not only protected ourselves from the painful outcomes of this shock, and voiced our objection to the skewed situation by saying ‘the World is bigger than 5,’ but also have taken action to take our rightful place in the new global system of government and economy. We now focus all our energy and means on establishing and developing our new employment and stability oriented economy,” Erdoğan noted. (ILKHA)
