Police arrest 9 DHKP-C linked suspects in Istanbul
Turkish police have arrested 9 people allegedly linked to the DHKP-C organization in a raid on İdil Culture Center in the Okmeydanı neighborhood.
The counter-terrorism unit of the Istanbul police stormed Idil Culture Center in Şişli district of the city in the early hours of Tuesday to capture the suspects.
The suspects were involved in various criminal activities in the rank of the organization, according to Turkish officials.
Police claimed that they also seized digital documents and materials in the center.
The suspects are being interrogated in the provincial police department.
The suspects will be transferred to the courthouse when their official procedures at the police department are completed.
DHKP-C (the Revolutionary People's Liberation Party/Front) is a Turkish Marxist–Leninist party. It was founded in 1978 as Revolutionary Left and has been involved in a militant campaign against the Turkish government since the 1980s.
The group is classified as a terrorist group by Japan, Turkey, the United States, the United Kingdom, and the European Union. (ILKHA)
