Speaking at an online conference held by the Center for Palestinian Refugee Studies, Abu Marzouk said the group is actively working with various institutions and organizations against the move.

“Hamas is working on a strategy with British lawyers for the cancellation of the decision,” Abu Marzouk added.

On the other hand, he noted that the internal division in Palestine would not serve the interests of Hamas, adding the Movement intends to protect its homeland and the resistance.

Abu Marzouk also urged the Palestinian Authority and the Fatah movement to activate the Palestinian reconciliation on the basis of the interests of the Palestinian public, partnership and resistance.

He also pointed to the normalization deals signed between a number of Arab countries and the zionist occupation regime under US auspices, saying that these normalization deals have helped to bring Israel out of its isolation in the region and weakened support for the Palestinian cause.

He further stressed the Palestinian people's total adherence to their legitimate rights and resistance as a sole option to end occupation.

Last week, the UK’s Interior Ministry declared that Hamas was included on a list of banned terrorist organizations.

According to the decision, members of Hamas Movement or those who support it could be sentenced up to 14 years in prison.

The UK outlawed Hamas’s armed wing, the Qassam Brigades, in 2001. (ILKHA)
