Libya: PM Dbeibah to run for president in December polls
Libya’s interim Prime Mister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah submitted his candidacy papers for the December polls at the headquarters of the electoral commission in Tripoli on Sunday.
Libyan presidential election is scheduled to be held with the first round on 24 December, and the second round on 24 January.
Elections had previously been planned for early 2019 but were delayed due to Khalifa Haftar Western Libya campaign, after having earlier been planned for 10 December 2018.
Dbeibeh was elected as interim Prime Minister of Libya to lead a temporary unified executive in February 2021. (ILKHA)
