HÜDA PAR: Our first choice is the presidential system
HÜDA PAR Chairman Zekeriya Yapıcıoğlu spoke to the press during his visit to Istanbul, Turkey's most populous city as well as its cultural and financial hub.
Yapıcıoğlu called on lawmakers to make “tax exemption for minimum wage” as a constitutional provision.
Touching upon the debates on the Turkish presidential government model, which was jointly introduced by the AK Party and the MHP and adopted in April 16, 2017 constitutional referendum, Yapıcıoğlu said: “We think that those who say, 'This system is very bad, it is not a system that can ever be corrected, let's go back to the parliamentary system' act a bit hastily. Turkish presidential government model can and should be given a chance by revamping its failing aspects. Our first choice is the presidential system.”
Underlining that the subject of Turkey’s new constitution is a litmus test for all Turkey’s political parties, Yapıcıoğlu said: “Turkey has lived with that shame for 40 years. Enough is enough. This constitution must be changed.” (ILKHA)
