Two powerful earthquakes hit southern Iran
Two strong earthquakes have struck near Bandar Abbas in southern Iran, demolishing a number of buildings.
The quakes were felt across the region, including Dubai, Qatar, Bahrain, and Saudi Arabia.
The first tremor, which took place at 3:37 p.m. local time on Sunday, was centered about 64 kilometers northwest of Bandar Abbas, the capital of Hormozgan Province.
The second one hit the same area about a minute later.
The first quake had a preliminary magnitude of 6.4, while the second one was slightly weaker, at 6.3, according to Iran’s Seismological Center.
There were no immediate reports of injuries or severe damage after the earthquakes. (ILKHA)
