Turkey’s unemployment rate decreases by 0.3% in September
Seasonally adjusted unemployment rate realized as 11.5%, the Turkish Statistical Institute said in a statement on Wednesday.
The number of unemployed persons aged 15 years old and over decreased by 70 thousand to 3 million 794 thousand persons in September 2021 in Turkey compared to the previous month, according to the statement.
The unemployment rate occurred as 11.5% with a 0.3 percentage point decrease.
Seasonally adjusted employment rate realized as 45.8%
The number of employed persons increased by 426 thousand to 29 million 254 thousand persons in the period of September 2021 compared to the previous month. The employment rate occurred as 45.8% with 0.6 percentage point increase.
Seasonally adjusted labor force participation rate realized as 51.7%
The number of persons in the labor force realized as 33 million 48 thousand persons with 356 thousand persons increase in September 2021 compared to the previous month. Labor force participation rate was 51.7% with 0.5 percentage point increase.
Seasonally adjusted youth unemployment rate was 21.5%, employment rate was 32.7%
The youth unemployment rate in the 15-24 age group was 21.5% with 0.9 percentage point decrease compared to the previous month and the employment rate was 32.7% with 0.3 percentage point increase. The labor force participation rate in this age group realized as 41.7% with 0.1 percentage points decrease compared to the previous month.
54.9% of seasonally adjusted employment was in the services sector
In September 2021, the number of agricultural employment increased by 21 thousand persons, industry increased by 218 thousand persons, construction increased by 13 thousand persons and services increased by 175 thousand persons. According to the distribution of employment by sector; 17.0% was employed in agriculture, 21.9% was employed in industry, 6.2% was employed in construction and 54.9% was employed in services.
Seasonally adjusted composite measure of labor underutilization rate realized as 21.9%
In September 2021, the rate of composite measure of labor underutilization consisting of time-related underemployment, potential labor force and unemployment was 21.9% with 0.2 percentage point increase compared to the previous month. While combined rate of time-related underemployment and unemployment realized as 15.2%, combined rate of unemployment and potential labor force realized as 18.5%.
Unemployment rate realized as 11.1%, employment rate realized as 47.2%
Unemployment rate realized as 11.1% with 1.3 percentage point decrease compared to same month of the previous year. The number of unemployed persons decreased by 147 thousand persons to 3 million 754 thousand persons compared to same month of the previous year.
Employment rate realized as 47.2% with 3.2 percentage point increase compared to same month of the previous year. The number of employed persons estimated as 30 million 144 thousand persons with 2 million 499 thousand persons increase compared to same month of the previous year.
Labor force participation rate was 53.0% with 2.8 percentage point increase compared to same month of the previous year. The number of labor force estimated as 33 million 898 thousand persons with 2 million 352 thousand persons increase compared to same month of the previous year.
The rate of unregistered employment in the non-agricultural sector was 18.6%
In September 2021, the rate of unregistered employment, which indicates the share of employment who are not affiliated with social security institution in total employment realized as 30.5% with 2.0 percentage point decrease compared to the same month of the previous year. The rate of unregistered employment in the non-agricultural sector realized as 18.6% with 1.9 percentage point decrease compared to the same month of the previous year. (ILKHA)
