At least 25 students injured after school bus falls into creek in northwestern Turkey
The bus carrying high school students has run off the road and crashed into a creek in the Gebze district of Turkey’s northwestern Kocaeli province on Tuesday.
According to the initial reports, at least twenty-five students were injured in the accident.
Ambulances, police, and fire crews were dispatched to the scene after the accident had been reported to the officials.
The injured were rushed to hospitals in Kocaeli, local sources reported.
The officers were investigating how the crash happened.
Traffic accidents claim thousands of lives every year in Turkey. According to figures by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat), 4,866 people were killed in traffic accidents and another 226,266 people suffered injuries in the country last year.
One-third of the accidents stem from drivers exceeding speed limits. (ILKHA)
