Turkey: Confidence index increases in services, retail trade and construction sectors
Seasonally adjusted confidence index increased by 2.1% in services, 4.8% in retail trade, and 1.0% in construction sectors in October compared to September, the Turkish Statistical Institute said.
Seasonally adjusted confidence index which was 117.8 for services in September increased by 2.1% in October to 120.3. In services sector compared to the previous month, business situation over past three months sub-index increased by 3.8% to 124.7. Demand-turnover over past three months sub-index increased by 3.2% to 119.1 and demand-turnover expectation over next three months sub-index decreased by 0.8% to 117.0.
Retail trade confidence index realized as 121.1
Seasonally adjusted retail trade confidence index increased by 4.8% in October to 121.1. In retail trade sector compared to the previous month, business activity-sales over past three months sub-index increased by 6.1% to 133.5. Current volume of stock sub-index increased by 5.4% to 95.6 and business activity-sales expectation over next three months sub-index increased by 3.2% to 134.3.
Construction confidence index realized as 92.7
Seasonally adjusted construction confidence index which was 91.8 in September increased by 1.0% in October to 92.7. In construction sector compared to the previous month, current overall order books sub-index became 81.5 by decreasing 1.9%. Total employment expectation over next three months sub-index increased by 3.5% to 103.9.
In construction sector, 43.0% of the enterprises indicated at least one factor limiting their activities while 57.0% of the enterprises indicated none in October. Among the main factors limiting activities in construction sector; "financial constraints" which was 25.7% in September realized as 30.0% in October, "insufficient demand" which was 22.2% in September realized as 20.6% in October and "other factors" which was 18.3% in September realized as 17.4% in October.
