Palestinian ex-detainee Hussein Masalmeh dies after long battle with cancer
Leukemia-stricken ex-detainee Hussein Masalmeh, from Bethlehem, died on Wednesday evening of health complications, which he started suffering from in the Zionist regime’s jails as a result of his exposure to medical neglect.
The Palestinian Commission of Detainees’ and Ex-Detainees’ Affairs announced the death of Masalmeh in the Istishari Hospital in Ramallah City.
The ex-prisoner had spent 18 years in the zionist regime’s jails, where he suffered from harsh incarceration conditions and long medical negligence.
The zionist occupation authority had released Masalmeh in February 2021 at Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem following a serious health decline.
In this regard, the Hamas Movement held the occupation state fully responsible for the death of ex-prisoner Hussein Masalmeh, affirming that he was exposed to inhumane detention conditions, deliberate medical neglect and physical torture during his presence in its jails.
“This crime against humanity has been added to the zionist occupation’s black record and its series of crimes against our courageous prisoners, and it reflects the enormity of its violations against the sick prisoners in particular and the Palestinian prisoners in general,” Hamas said in a press release.
