Turkey, Egypt to hold 2nd round of exploratory talks
Turkish Foreign Ministry has issued a press release regarding the second round of Turkey-Egypt political consultations.
“Second round of Turkey-Egypt Political Consultations will be held between the delegations headed by H.E. Ambassador Sedat Önal, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey and H.E. Ambassador Hamdi Loza, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt on 7-8 September 2021 in Ankara. During the talks, bilateral and regional issues will be discussed,” the Ministry said.
In March, Turkey claimed said that they have resumed their diplomatic contacts with Egypt at the level of intelligence and foreign ministries after breaking off relations since 2013.
However, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry denied these claims by the Turkish Government that there has been a restoration of ties.
On May 5, a Turkish delegation led by Deputy Foreign Minister Sedat Onal visited Cairo at Egypt's invitation.
In the meantime, Turkey had ordered Muslim Brotherhood-affiliated TV channels to halt criticisms against Egypt. (ILKHA)
