In the post he shared on his social media account, Director of Communications Altun wished Allah's mercy upon those who lost their lives in the flood disaster in Kastamonu and Sinop and conveyed his condolences to their families.

Extending his get-well wishes to the locals, Altun said: “Our state is working hard to heal the wounds of our beloved nation expeditiously. Our President, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, will soon visit the flood-hit areas. Our President, who has been deeply concerned about the locals since the moment the disaster occurred, will conduct investigations in the region and closely monitor the latest situation.”

Noting that from the first moments of the flood disaster, Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) took action and began working with all working groups and their representatives, Altun stated that the Ministers of Interior, Environment and Urbanization, Transport and Infrastructure immediately arrived in the region and personally participated in the search and rescue operations.

Emphasizing that the search and rescue operations continued with approximately five thousand personnel in Bartın, Kastamonu, and Sinop, Altun said: “323 citizens in Bartın, 925 citizens in Kastamonu and 472 citizens in Sinop have been evacuated to safe areas by helicopters and boats. While the Turkish Red Crescent has deployed a total of 217 personnel/volunteers, nine catering vehicles and 42 vehicles in the flood zones,19 thousand 170 hot meals, 17 thousand 72 food packages, and 138 thousand 726 snacks have been distributed.”

Stating that the volunteers, non-governmental organizations, and humanitarian aid organizations in the region continue their work in close collaboration with AFAD and other relevant public institutions, Altun said:

“We express our heartfelt thanks to these organizations as well as our volunteers. On this occasion, we would like to remind you that systematic lies and disinformation campaigns are today's primary threats to social life, public order, and democracy.  During critical times, some seek to generate a climate of unrest in society through social media. Our nation will never tolerate these immoral campaigns to take advantage of our people's humanitarian and conscientious feelings. Once again, we ask our people not to rely on any news reports or images that have not been validated by official sources.” (ILKHA)
