France's COVID-19 health pass system comes into effect
France's COVID-19 health pass system, which requires people to show a QR code proving they have a special virus pass before they can enjoy restaurants and cafes or travel across the country, came into effect on Monday.
The new step aims to encourage more people to get a COVID-19 vaccine shot and slow down a surge in infections in France.
The measure also applies to tourists visiting the country where over 36 million people, or more than 54% of the population, are fully vaccinated.
On July 21, French Prime Minister Jean Castex confirmed that the COVID pass would be required for leisure activities involving more than 50 people and must be presented at theme parks and concerts as well as cinemas, swimming pools, and museums. (ILKHA)
