Wildfires threaten Greece’s capital
At least two people have been killed while devastating wildfires spread across Greece.
The fire crews struggled to prevent wildfires from spreading to more towns, while scorching winds fuelled blazes in the country for the fourth day.
There are at least 56 active fires still burning across Greece from the Peloponnese in the west to the island of Evia near Athens, the officials said.
The authorities urged people to leave their homes as the wildfires near Athens, the capital of Greece.
Since the beginning of August 2021, multiple wildfires in Greece have killed two people, injured at least 20 others, and burned dozens of homes, after a historical heatwave for the country. Authorities have evacuated several villages and towns across the country. (ILKHA)
