At least 18 killed, more than 40 injured in blast in Baghdad’s Sadr city
Iraqi security officials said at least 18 people were killed and dozens more injured in the powerful blast in the Wahailat market in Sadr City.
The explosion in the densely populated majority-Shia suburb took place when shoppers crowded the market buying food ahead of Eid al-Adha, an Islamic festival to commemorate the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to follow Allah's command to sacrifice his son.
No group has so far claimed the responsibility for the attack. (ILKHA)
