According to local sources, two local young men were arrested and 20 residents were wounded by police forces as they were trying to fend off attacks by settlers and police.

With the help of police officers, settlers hurled stones at Palestinian homes in Sheikh Jarrah, causing panic among families and their children. They also set fire to the house of al-Qasem family and prevented local youths from extinguishing the flames.

During the settlers’ attack, police forces showered local residents with stun and tear gas canisters, fired rubber bullets at them, physically assaulted many of them and used pepper spray against them.

The Red Crescent said its ambulance crews provided medical assistance for 20 Palestinians, who are Sheikh Jarrah residents. One of the wounded was an elderly man who suffered from a head injury and was rushed to hospital.

Settlers also threw stones at a Red Crescent ambulance, while a police sewage tanker showered another ambulance with stinking fluid.

Police forces also stormed homes, including the house of al-Kurd family, and arrested two young men identified as Mousa al-Attrash and Ahmed Abu Kudair.

In a separate incident, four Jerusalemite girl children, aged between 12 and 14, suffered facial and eye burns on Monday afternoon after a Jewish settler attacked them with pepper spray in Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood.

Local sources said that the settler attacked the girls as they were training to perform a folkloric dance (dabkeh) during a local activity held in the neighborhood, adding that the settler also chased the girls after wounding them.

They also said that the settler complained to police officers and incited them against two local young men who were arrested later. (ILKHA)
