Low turnout casts shadow over Algerian legislative election
Algerians went to the polls on Saturday to elect all 407 members of the People's National Assembly.
Snap parliamentary election was the first such poll since Algeria’s longtime President Bouteflika was forced to resign two years ago.
Some political parties had called for a boycott of the election over a crackdown by the government on weekly rallies.
According to Algeria's electoral authority, turnout was just 30.2 percent, the lowest in at least 20 years for legislative elections.
The results of the elections are expected on Sunday. (ILKHA)
