“We condemn the cowardly terrorist attack against an Iraqi military unit within the Peshmerga forces on the way to Mount Mateen, in Dohuk Governorate, at the hands of non-Iraqi armed groups,” Yehia Rasool, a spokesperson for the Iraqi military, said in a statement.

“We extend our condolences to the families of the five martyrs from the Peshmerga forces, and we pray for a speedy recovery of those injured in the attack.”

Rasool added that an investigation had been launched into the attack.

On Sunday, five Peshmergas were killed and four others injured after PKK members attacked a vehicle carrying Peshmerga forces in Al-Amadiya, Duhok. (ILKHA)
