Iran’s Central Bank Governor dismissed after presidential candidacy
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani dismissed Abdolnasser Hemmati, the governor of the Central Bank of Iran (CBI), is running as a candidate for president in an election in June.
Hemmati said that President Hassan Rouhani had concerns about the impact of his election campaign on financial markets and raised the possibility of replacing him.
Rouhani has reportedly appointed Hamid Pourmohammdi as the new CBI chief.
Pourmohammdi was the deputy head of the Planning and Budget Organization of Iran. (ILKHA)
