HÜDA PAR calls for measures to prevent further migrant deaths
In his weekly statement regarding external developments, HÜDA PAR President İshak Sağlam has called on the international community to take necessary measures to prevent further migrant deaths in the Mediterranean Sea.
“Although almost all of the migrants who go missing in the Mediterranean Sea are from the Muslim world, the indifference of Muslims is painful. All Muslims have to take the initiative to establish peace in places where chaos reigns,” Sağlam said.
"The Mediterranean Sea has turned into immigrant cemetery"
Drawing attention to the disaster in which at least 100 irregular migrants lost their lives as a result of the boat accident in the Mediterranean, Sağlam noted that due to increasing instabilities in some countries, the disasters that occurred in the Mediterranean have increased day by day, especially since 2014.
“On average, six people per day die at sea, according to a new UN report,” Sağlam stated.
“The peoples that the imperialist countries meant to disrupt their peace and security face disasters both in their homeland and on the escape routes. In countries where civil wars are fueled and civilian casualties in foreign interventions are not cared for, millions of civilians are setting off on the migratory routes in different parts of the world.”
"The irregular migration has now become the most important issue of humanity"
Sağlam continued his remarks as follows: “Due to the destruction caused by colonialism, especially on Africa, the peoples of countries such as Afghanistan, Syria, Iraq, Arakan, and Libya, who were dragged into civil war, set out with the hope of establishing a new life by using the sea routes. The perpetrators of these civil wars caused the deaths of the people who had to flee from their countries, to die by leaving them hungry and thirsty in the seas, and even attacking their boats as in the examples of Greece and Italy.”
“The irregular migration, which has been exploited by the human traffickers in the most brutal way, has now become the most important issue of humanity. Although almost all of the migrants who go missing in the Mediterranean Sea are from the Muslim world, the indifference of Muslims is painful. All Muslims have to take the initiative to establish peace in places where chaos reigns,” Sağlam added. (ILKHA)
