Armenian PM Pashinyan resigns to hold early elections
Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has resigned on Sunday in order to hold early parliamentary elections in the country.
“I am resigning on Citizen's Day, and this is symbolic because we are returning the power we received from the people back to them”, Pashinyan said.
As per the Armenian constitution, early parliamentary elections are possible only when the Prime Minister resigns and the Parliament doesn’t elect the PM twice. After that, the Parliament is considered dissolved by virtue of law, and early parliamentary elections take place. (ILKHA)
