Biden speaks with Turkish President Erdoğan in first contact since inauguration
The United States President Joe Biden spoke on the phone with Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Friday, in the first-ever contact between the two leaders since Biden’s inauguration in January.
“President Joseph R. Biden spoke today with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, conveying his interest in a constructive bilateral relationship with expanded areas of coopearition and effective management of disagreement,” a White House statement said.
The statement also announced that two leaders had agreed to hold a bilateral meeting on the margins of the NATO Summit in June to discuss the full range of bilateral and regional issues. (ILKHA)
