Erdoğan, NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg talk over phone
Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held a telephone conversation with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg on Friday.
Developments in the Aegean, the Eastern Mediterranean, Libya and Afghanistan, as well as regional issues, the Russia-Ukraine crisis, in particular, were discussed during the phone call, according to Turkish presidency.
During the conversation, Erdoğan stated that thanks to Turkey’s constructive steps and insistent calls, a calm atmosphere prevailed in the Aegean and the Eastern Mediterranean these days.
Underscoring that the new government in Libya should be supported in the areas of defense and security, Erdoğan noted that Turkey was making contributions in that regard within the framework of the agreements it had signed.
Erdoğan further stressed that the support provided to Afghanistan should also be maintained by making use of NATO's means and capabilities as well.
Erdoğan voiced Turkey’s belief that the Russia-Ukraine crisis should be resolved through dialogue and on the basis of Ukraine's territorial integrity and the Minsk agreements. (ILKHA)
