Over 2 million children suffer from acute malnutrition in Yemen
Yemen remains the worst humanitarian crisis in the world, with 20.7 million people – including 11.3 million children – in need of some form of humanitarian assistance and protection, according to the UN Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs
Projected health needs in 2021 have increased by 11.9 percent compared with 2020 levels, with approximately 20.1 million people in need of health assistance, including 11.6 million people who are in acute need.
For children, the situation is more worrying. Nearly 2.3 million children under the age of five in Yemen are projected to suffer from acute malnutrition in 2021.
Against this bleak backdrop, UN agencies and relief partners launched a $3.85 billion humanitarian response plan to reach about 16 million most vulnerable, including 8.8 million children, with life-saving assistance. (ILKHA)
