HÜDA PAR: Laws conflicting with our values should be reviewed
“We have welcomed Turkey’s withdrawal from the Istanbul Convection, however, the laws, conventions, and circulars that conflict with our values should be reviewed,” said Şehzade Demir, the General Secretary of HÜDA PAR.
Demir described Turkey’s withdrawal from the Istanbul Convention, which has caused family break-ups, increased divorce rates, and degenerated moral values since it went into effect in the country, as a good step, and thanked the government for the decision.
Demir also called on the government to immediately halt all activities that were initiated within the scope of the Convention in order to contain the damage it has done.
“Laws conflicting with our values should be reviewed”
Stating that the Istanbul Convention and its implementation law, Law No. 6284, caused dire victimizations in the society, Demir said:” Those who are in jail because of early marriages should be released immediately. The cruelty of permanent alimony must end. Adultery and the activities that encourage adultery should be criminalized in Turkey. The laws, conventions, and circulars that conflict with our values should be reviewed. The legislation damaging the structure of family and society should be annulled.” (ILKHA)
