Turkey’s annual inflation rate increases by 15.61% in February

A rise in general index was realized in CPI (2003=100) on the previous month by 0.91%, on December of the previous year by 2.60%, on the same month of the previous year by 15.61%, and on the twelve months moving averages basis by 12.81% in February 2021, according to the statement.

The lowest annual increase was 2.87% in alcoholic beverages and tobacco

Education with 6.13%, clothing, and footwear with 6.31%, and communication with 7.15% were the other main groups where the lowest annual increases realized. On the other hand, furnishings and household equipment with 23.74%, transportation with 22.47%, and miscellaneous goods and services with 20.61% were the main groups where high annual increases realized.

The highest monthly decrease was 2.32% in miscellaneous goods and services

In February 2021, recreation and culture with 0.98% and clothing and footwear with 0.93% were the other groups that indicated a monthly decrease amongst the main groups. On the other hand, health with 3.00%, food and non-alcoholic beverages with 2.57%, and hotels, cafes, and restaurants with 1.32% were the main groups where high monthly increases realized.

In February 2021, within average prices of 415 items in the index, the average prices of 117 items decreased and the average prices of 35 items remained unchanged while the average prices of 263 items increased.

The indicator for CPI having specified coverage (B) increased by 16.92% annually and 0.79% monthly

A rise in CPI excluding unprocessed food, energy, alcoholic beverages, tobacco, and gold was realized in CPI (2003=100) on the previous month by 0.79%, on December of the previous year by 2.44%, on the same month of the previous year by 16.92% and on the twelve months moving averages basis by 12.75% in February 2021.
