Italian ambassador to Congo Luca Attanasio killed in attack on UN convoy
Italy's ambassador to Congo Luca Attanasio has been killed in an attack on his convoy in the east of the country, the Italian foreign ministry said in a statement on Monday.

The Italian ambassador to the Democratic Republic of Congo and a military policeman traveling with him were killed in an attack on a United Nations convoy in eastern Congo.
Earlier in the day, Reuters quoted the Virunga National Park as saying that the diplomat was wounded in the east of the country during a kidnapping attempt.
