Turkey’s overall export unit value index increases by 2.8%, TurkStat says
As compared with the corresponding month of the preceding year, the overall export unit value index increased by 2.8% in December, the Turkish Statistical Institute said in a statement on Wednesday.
In the same month, compared to December 2019, while the index for fuels decreased by 23.0%, the index for food, beverages and tobacco, crude materials (except fuels), and manufactured goods (except food, beverages, and tobacco) increased by 1.4%, 9.2%, and 3.6%, respectively.
The overall export unit value index increased by 1.4% in Quarter IV 2020, compared to the corresponding quarter of the preceding year. As compared with the year 2019, the index decreased by 0.4% in 2020.
The overall export volume index increased by 12.3%
The overall export volume index compared to the corresponding month of the preceding year increased by 12.3% in December. Compared with December 2019, while the index for fuels decreased by 34.2%, the index for food, beverages and tobacco, crude materials (except fuels), and manufactured goods (except food, beverages, and tobacco) increased by 10.7%, 30.6%, and 14.1%, respectively.
The overall export volume index increased by 4.9% in Quarter IV 2020, compared to the corresponding quarter of the preceding year. As compared with the year 2019, the index decreased by 5.7% in 2020.
The overall import unit value index increased by 3.8%
As compared with the corresponding month of the preceding year, the overall import unit value index increased by 3.8% in December. While the index for fuels decreased by 27.9% the index for food, beverages, and tobacco, crude materials (except fuels), and manufactured goods (except food, beverages, and tobacco) increased by 17.1%, 15.6%, and 10.0%, respectively.
The overall import unit value index increased by 0.5% in Quarter IV 2020, compared to the corresponding quarter of the preceding year. As compared with the year 2019, the index decreased by 4.2% in 2020.
The overall import volume index increased by 6.6%
In December, the overall import volume index compared to the corresponding month of the preceding year increased by 6.6%. While the index for food, beverages, and tobacco, and fuels decreased by 4.8% and 3.0%, respectively, the index for crude materials (except fuels) and manufactured goods (except food, beverages, and tobacco) increased by 15.0% and 7.2%, respectively.
The overall import volume index increased by 9.4% in Quarter IV 2020, compared to the corresponding quarter of the preceding year. As compared with the year 2019, the index increased by 7.8% in 2020.
The calendar and seasonally adjusted export volume index increased by 5.8%
The calendar and seasonally adjusted export volume index which was 170.0 in November 2020, increased by 5.8%, to 179.9 in December 2020. The calendar-adjusted export volume index which was 168.9 in December 2019, increased by 8.3%, to 182.9 in December 2020.
The calendar and seasonally adjusted import volume index decreased by 2.9%
The calendar and seasonally adjusted import volume index which was 145.1 in November 2020, decreased by 2.9%, to 140.8 in December 2020. The calendar-adjusted import volume index which was 141.4 in December 2019, increased by 4.6%, to 147.8 in December 2020.
Terms of trade was 104.8 in December 2020
Terms of trade is calculated by dividing the export unit value index by the import unit value index, then multiplying the result by 100. While terms of trade was 105.8 in December 2019, it decreased by 1 point to 104.8 in December 2020.
Terms of trade increased by 1 point to 105.7 in Quarter IV 2020, compared to the corresponding quarter of the preceding year. Terms of trade increased by 4.1 points to 106.8 in 2020, compared to the preceding year. (ILKHA)
