Aftershocks continue in western Turkey after 5.1 magnitude earthquake
The earthquake was followed by dozens of aftershocks in the Karaburun district of Turkey’s western İzmir province.
At 16.10 p.m. local time, another tremor with a magnitude of 4.7 struck the same region at a depth of 6.90 km, according to Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD).
Many aftershocks were also recorded following the tremors.
The powerful aftershocks caused panic as buildings again swayed in the region.
The tremors were felt in the nearby provinces, including Aydın, Uşak, Manisa, Muğla, Çanakkale and Balıkesir, according to local sources said.
There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties. (ILKHA)
