A 5.5 magnitude earthquake jolts southern Iran
Magnitude 5.5 earthquake hit the Bandar Lengeh district of Iran’s southern Hormozgan province.
The quake occurred at 1.01 a.m. local time (2201GMT Friday) at a depth of 19 kilometers (12 miles) with the epicenter in Bandar Lengeh district, according to the Iranian Seismological Center (IRSC).
About 80 buildings were destroyed or damaged in the earthquake, local sources reported.
The earthquake tremors were also felt in some countries of the Persian Gulf, including Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Qatar, and United Arab Emirates.
There were no immediate reports of casualties, according to the local sources. (ILKHA)
