In his weekly statement on external developments, Sağlam have made important evaluations regarding the HAMAS members in Saudi regime’s prisons, the UNICEF’s annual report on acute food insecurity, malnutrition and the extradition treaty between China and Turkey as well as the relations between Turkey and the zionist occupation regime.

“The Saudi regime should release HAMAS members”

Reminding that HAMAS leader Ismail Haniyeh called on Saudi regime officials to release HAMAS official Muhammad al Hudari and his son, as well as other imprisoned Palestinians, who have been detained in Saudi prisons, Sağlam said: “Along with Mohammed al-Hudari, one of the top officials of HAMAS, around 60 Palestinians are being held in Saudi regime prisons on charges of being members of HAMAS. The Euro-Mediterranean Observatory for Human Rights, headquartered in Geneva, announced in September that the Saudi regime was detaining these Palestinians without reason. There is no explanation for the arrest of Palestinians in an Islamic land where they do not interfere in their internal affairs, do not act in a way that will endanger the security of the country and where they visit. The arrest of our Palestinian brothers, who were subjected to all kinds of persecution and massacre under the occupation and blockade of Zionism, is a document of the betrayal of the Saudi regime. This situation is a service to Zionism. The Saudi administration must give up its persecution in the name of pleasing the Zionists, and our Palestinian brothers must be released immediately.”

“2021 should not be a year of hunger”

Referring to the UNICEF’s annual report on acute food insecurity and malnutrition, Sağlam said: “UNICEF Director has called for an emergency fund of 6.4 billion dollars to deliver essential services to 300 million people, including more than 190 million children, by the end of 2021. This fund, which is 35% more than the previous year, is the largest emergency fund call in UNICEF history. The money invested in arms around the world is approximately 2 trillion and the money allocated to cosmetics is 200 billion dollars. Even 3 per thousand of the money invested in weapons will be enough to meet this need. Failure to provide this fund for urgent needs is a human shame. All countries should respond to this call of the UN and humanity should be saved from this shame.”

“Turkey should stop pursuing an interest-based policy against China's crime against humanity”

Touching on the extradition treaty between China and Turkey, Sağlam continued his remarks as follows: “The assimilation policies of China against Uighur Muslims have been documented many times, and the photos of the concentration camps, where Uighur Muslims are being tortured, have been published in the news media. Turkey should stop pursuing an interest-based policy against China's crime against humanity. Turkey’s Foreign Minister Mevlüd Çavuşoğlu said that ‘we have not accepted China's extradition requests so far’. I think this statement is important. However, the statement that the agreement is only about 'regarding the extradition of criminals' ignores the fact that China considers Uighurs as potential terrorists.”

“Despite the assimilation policy of the Uighur Muslims, Turkey has not even demonstrated a serious reaction against China until today. If this agreement comes into force, it will result in partnership in human rights violations. Turkey’s assembly should not approve this agreement and should not be a partner in China's persecution.”

“Turkey should give up to normalizing relations with the occupational regime”

Warning Turkish official against any normalization steps with the Zionist occupation regime, Sağlam said: “In a period of increasing normalization attempts, President Erdogan announced that intelligence level talks were held with the occupation regime. The President's statements that the Occupation regime has only experienced problems with senior executives and that some senior figures may begin relations between the occupation regime and Turkey in March are worrisome. The normalization of relations by Turkey, which has been in favor of the Palestinian resistance until today, will deal a heavy blow to the Palestinian people and the resistance.”

“Turkey should not index its relations with the Occupation regime to conjuncture and individuals. The occupation regime, which bases its existence on occupation and genocide, tries to impose its illegitimate existence on the Islamic world with the pressures of the USA. The people of the USA are against "normalization" attempts, they should react to the re-normalization with the Zionist regime. Choosing to re-normalize relations at a time when there are expectations that Turkey will stop recognizing the Occupation regime will create a great disappointment in the society,” Sağlam added.
