Iran records 6,272 daily confirmed cases of COVID-19
After 6,272 more people tested positive for coronavirus in the past 24 hours, the number of infections has risen to 1,218,753 in Iran, the Health Ministry Spokeswoman Sima Lari said in her daily press conference on Wednesday.
149 more people have died from coronavirus over the past 24 hours in the country, bringing the number of deaths from the virus to 55,095.
There are at least 5,087 people in intensive care units, Lari said, adding that, of those tested positive for the virus, more than 978,714 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospital.
So far, more than 7,566,946 tests have been taken across the country to detect infected cases, said the Health Ministry spokeswoman.
According to Worldometer, which is a reference website that provides counters and real-time statistics for diverse topics, the global death toll from coronavirus has surpassed 1,799,337 with 82,439,378 cases and more than 58,445,667 recoveries. (ILKHA)
