Iran avalanche death toll rises to 11
At least 11 climbers have died and several more are missing after a blizzard triggered avalanches in mountains north of Tehran.
A total of 16 people were reported missing following the avalanche, of whom 14 have so far been found, according to Shahin Fathi, the head of Tehran's Red Crescent Committee.
Four people have been rescued, while the other 11 have unfortunately lost their lives, he said.
At least two climbers are still unaccounted for on three popular trails, namely Tochal, Kolackchal and Ahar.
Rescue workers continue to search for the remaining missing people. (ILKHA)
