Twitter to make Biden’s @POTUS account start with zero followers
Twitter will wipe out all followers from the @POTUS and @WhiteHouse accounts when Biden is sworn in on January 20.
“In 2016, the Trump admin absorbed all of President Obama's Twitter followers on @POTUS and @WhiteHouse -- at Team 44's urging. In 2020, Twitter has informed us that as of right now the Biden administration will have to start from zero,” Rob Flaherty, Biden’s digital director, tweeted.
At the same time, @VP, @FLOTUS, @PressSec, @Cabinet, and @LaCasaBlanca accounts will also start a fresh with zero followers once Biden is sworn in as Americas next president.
Currently, @POTUS, @TheWhiteHouse, @FLOTUS and @PressSec have 33.2 million, 26 million, 16 million and 6 million followers on Twitter, respectively.
Donald Trump's use of social media has attracted worldwide attention. He frequently uses Twitter and other social media platforms to make comments about other politicians, celebrities, private citizens, and daily news.
From his official declaration of candidacy in June 2015 through the first two-and-a-half years of his presidency, he tweeted over 17,000 times. Since early in his presidency, his tweets have been considered official statements by the president of the United States. (ILKHA)
