A 5.6 magnitude earthquake jolts southern Peru
A 5.6 magnitude earthquake has hit Peru’s southern Arequipa province, the U.S. Geological Survey said.
The earthquake occurred at 12:48 pm local time on Wednesday near Ciudad Satelite, Provincia de Arequipa, with its epicenter at 16.5907 degrees south latitude and 71.4003 degrees west longitude, and at a depth of 86 km.
The earthquake was felt in the nearby provinces, local reports said.
No tsunami warning or advisory was issued as a result of the temblor.
There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties. (ILKHA)
