Turkey’s political parties slam U.S. for imposing sanctions on Turkey
Turkish political parties have issued a joint statement condemning the United States’ decision to sanction Turkey.
The joint statement, which was penned by deputy chairs of the ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party, the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP), the opposition Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) and the opposition Good (IYI) Party, condemned recent U.S. sanctions against Turkey
The statement was read at the general assembly of the Turkish Grand National Assembly on Tuesday afternoon.
On Monday, the United States imposed sanctions on Turkey over its acquisition of a Russian missile system.
Turkey made a deal reportedly worth $2.5 billion with Russia for the S-400 mobile surface-to-air missile system in 2017.
The United States claims that the S-400 system to pose a risk to the NATO alliance as well as the F-35, America’s most expensive weapons platform. (ILKHA)
