223 more people have died from coronavirus over the past 24 hours in the country, bringing the number of deaths from the virus to 52,670.

There are at least 5,704 people in intensive care units, Lari said, adding that, of those tested positive for the virus, more than 833,276 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospital.

So far, more than 6,797,469 have been taken across the country to detect infected cases, said the Health Ministry spokeswoman.

According to Worldometer, which is a reference website that provides counters and real-time statistics for diverse topics, the global death toll from coronavirus has surpassed 1,630,867 with 73,329,034 cases and more than 51,473,868 recoveries. (ILKHA)
