Iran's death toll from coronavirus rises to 52,196
Iran has reported 247 new deaths from coronavirus over the past 24 hours, bringing the number of deaths from the virus to 52,196, the Health Ministry Spokeswoman Sima Lari said in her daily press conference on Sunday.
After 7,451 more people tested positive for coronavirus in the past 24 hours, the number of infections has risen to 1,108,269 in the country.
There are at least 5,723 people in intensive care units, Lari said, adding that, of those tested positive for the virus, more than 812,270 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospital.
So far, more than 6,704,247 have been taken across the country to detect infected cases, said the Health Ministry spokeswoman.
According to Worldometer, which is a reference website that provides counters and real-time statistics for diverse topics, the global death toll from coronavirus has surpassed 1,613,693 with 72,208,775 cases and more than 50,596,274 recoveries. (ILKHA)
