Pro-Trump demonstrators, who marched between the Supreme Court, the Capitol and downtown Washington, clashed with antifa counter-protesters in the heart of the national capital.

Police forces moved in quickly to separate them, using pepper spray on members of both groups.

About 200 members of the Proud Boys, who a far-right group, joined the marches near the Trump hotel, wearing combat fatigues, black and yellow shirts and ballistic vests.

Pro-Trump groups started to hold demonstrations in reaction to President Donald Trump's false claims of electoral fraud in light of Joe Biden's victory in the 2020 presidential election.

On November 14, thousands of protestors rallied to support Trump's election claims in Washington. The disturbances culminated when violence broke out five blocks east of the White House between the counter-protesters and the president’s supporters, who wielded batons.

As the groups approached, they charged each other, brawling for several minutes before police arrived and cleared the intersection.

During the melee, a District fire official said a man was stabbed in the back and taken to a hospital. (ILKHA)
